Administration
It is with great eagerness and anticipation that I prepare for our upcoming school year. I am very excited to begin the school year as we welcome our new Kindergarten students as well as new families to West Middle Island. Everyone will soon learn exactly why we say “West is Best”!
Here at West, we pride ourselves on being a family and maintaining open communication. We will continue to provide you information through the district 2024-2025 calendar, Longwood Central School website, West Middle Island website, West Middle Island PTA website, and automated voice, text, and email messages through Parent Square. Parent Square will be the form of communication for all teachers as well. Please be sure to have your account active checking both via email and through text messages. Weekly emails will be sent on Friday to families. Links and information will be provided in the email for all activities and events. All traditional paper communication will be posted on our website, as well as, sent to you via email. We will continue to use a paperless process for all fliers and notices. It is vital that you make sure you have an up-to-date email address in our system. The system that coordinates your email with Parent Square is our PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Parent and community support enhances the quality of your child’s education. In conjunction with the PTA, we are planning many events for this year. As we concluded the school year, all events will be in person unless planned as virtual due to the nature of the event. (Baking with the Principal will continue to be virtual because we do not have the facilities to have everyone baking together in the building.) Please support the PTA through their membership drive and attending meetings. This will be of greatest importance this year to ensure a successful year for all students. You are an important member of your child’s educational team.
All of the staff members at West look forward to working with you throughout the school year. Please call the school if you have any questions or concerns over the year, 345-2755 for the Primary Building– Grades K and 1 or 345-2160 for the Intermediate Building—Grades 2-4. All students benefit when there is a meaningful exchange of information between home and school. Together, we will create a strong partnership as we carry out our school mission statement.
