The weather has turned cold. Please send your children in with winter coats and hats. If you are in need of a winter coat, please reach out to any member of our wellness team.

We know that 'tis the season for spreading germs! Please encourage proper handwashing at school and home!
At West Middle Island, keeping students healthy is a team effort. Knowing when to keep your child home and how to prevent illness helps protect everyone.
When to Keep Your Child Home
Please keep your child home if they have:
- A fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher (must be fever-free for 24 hours without medicine)
- Vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours
- Persistent cough, sore throat, or trouble breathing
- Unusual fatigue, body aches, or chills
- Rash with fever or spreading
- Pink eye with discharge
Ways to Help Prevent Illness
- Wash hands often with soap and water
- Cover coughs and sneezes
- Avoid touching the face
- Get enough sleep and eat healthy foods
- Keep vaccinations up to date
- Clean commonly touched items at home

Holiday Boutique
Thank you to everyone who supported the PTA by shopping at the Holiday Boutique this past week! We hope you all enjoy the wonderful gifts you found.

Message from our College and Career Committee:
Ask a Longwood senior how quickly time passes between elementary school and high school.
Now they are planning for their future, but really the planning starts right here at West Middle Island.
We need your help! Come and share with our students information about your career!
We'd love to have you! Please fill out the form and we will reach out to you with more information.
College and Career week will occur February 24th (primary) and February 25th (intermediate) before 2 pm. Presenters will be selected to provide students with a diverse exposure to careers. Thank you for your interest!

4th Grade Committee Information-
Next Meeting:
4th GRADE PARENTS!! If you are available, we will be meeting Sunday, January 18th at the Coram Starbucks at 6:00pm. Bring all ideas you may have for the Special Someone Dance-Food, flowers, valentines to sell. We can also do raffles as well. If anyone has any contacts and you are able to reach out to them, that would be very much appreciated.
4th Grade Bowling Fundraiser:
SAVE THE DATE- Saturday, January 24th from 12-2pm. It will be $20 per bowler for 2 hours of bowling and shoe rental. Everyone (kids and adults) are invited to bowl. You can pay the day of the event, so we will be accepting payment at the bowling alley. Please keep an eye out for an interest form for this event!
